Unsurprisingly, Trinidad & Tobago’s (unofficial) national dish – doubles – has its own dedicated day of celebration. Saturday 30th May 2026 is International Doubles Day around the world.

Make the most of the glorious weather this weekend, rum punch in hand, and be transported to the Caribbean. Pull up a chair at LIMIN SOUTHBANK and feel the sand between your toes. And REELLAAXX.

LIMIN SOUTHBANK, London’s only beach-side bar and restaurant, is affectionately known as the home of doubles. Founder and head chef, Sham Mahabir, has declaredbuy-one-get-one-free on Doubles, on Saturday 30th and Sunday and 31st May 2026.

Chef Sham has been showcasing the food from his Trinidad birthplace since he arrived in the UK nearly 30 years ago. Celebrate this iconic dish on 30th and 31st May 2026 at LIMIN SOUTHBANK.

Chef Sham’s approach to Doubles – vegan and protein packed – is both serious and authentic. Two thin, hand-stretched flatbreads, are lightly fried, topped with spiced chickpeas, and served with a tamarind and fiery lime pepper sauces, cucumber, apple pickle, green chutney, and sweet Scotch bonnet mango jam.

This is street food at its finest. All that’s missing is a glass of rum punch or an ice-cold beer. For the experienced, this description will evoke memories of the doubles man plying his trade on the streets of Trinidad.

LIMIN SOUTHBANK has been giving London a truly Trini experience for six years. It must close in September this year because its Gabriel’s Wharf home is to be redeveloped. Chef Sham is rightly proud of bringing undiscovered dishes from his homeland to London.

The roots of the menu stretch back to a dark chapter of history. When Indian indentured labour was transported to the Caribbean. Those men and women carried more than just their hopes; they carried seeds, spices, and a resilience that would change the Caribbean forever.

“The food we serve today— curries, rotis, and our legendary doubles—was born from that struggle. It is the result of Indian heritage meeting Caribbean ingredients, forged in the fires of survival. LIMIN SOUTHBANK took that narrative of hardship and transformed it into a narrative of triumph,” says Sham Mahabir.

A celebration of Doubles like no other this weekend.

30th and 31st May 2026 – LIMIN SOUTHBANK is serving doubles, alongside the a la carte menu. Expect the very best SOCA music, a lot of dancing, and live entertainment from the LIMIN SOUTHBANK Carnival dancers.

HAPPY HOUR on Sunday is 12 noon to 3PM.

Open 12 noon until 11pm on Saturday.
