Despite sustaining a gunshot wound to the head, Beharry continued to lead his unit to safety, emerging as a beacon of hope in the midst of adversity. In the line of fire, he displayed extraordinary valor and determination, ensuring that all his fellow soldiers reached safety.

The Second Act of Courage – June 11, 2004

Less than two months later, on June 11, 2004, Beharry faced another perilous ambush in Al-Amarah. This time, a rocket-propelled grenade detonated just inches from his head, leaving him terribly wounded and barely conscious. But Beharry’s resolve remained unbroken.
