Gina Miller is the Co-Founder of SCM Direct, passionate campaigner, author of the book ‘RISE’. A woman who refuses to be bullied or silenced when exercising her civic responsibilities or speaking up in the public domain.
Born in the former British colony British Guiana, the business owner and activist, is better known in society for initiating the 2016 R (Miller) v Secretary of State for exiting the European Union court case against the British government to implement Brexit without approval from Parliament.
During her formative years, Gina studied law at the Polytechnic of East London (now the University of East London) but left without completing her finals because she was brutally attacked in law school. The attackers were fellow students, and the attack caused her to give up the Law degree course. The emotional trauma caused her to change tact and gained a degree in marketing, and an MSc in Human Resource Management. In a turn of events in 2017, she received an honorary Doctorate at Laws from the University of East London, thirty years from when she had originally attended as a student. Gina started a specialist financial services marketing agency in 1992, and launched the Senate investment conference programme in 1996, becoming a marketing consultant in 2006.
Gina is a leading campaigner against hidden charges in pensions and investment and what she has described as
“flagrant mis-selling within the asset management market.”
